- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Elysa -- Funny and romantic... : The two main characters, Zeb and Jesse, are written so well I wish that they were real. Actually all the characters are really well written and add to the whole story. I had quite a few laugh out loud moments with this book, but my favorite one was very early on in Chapter One, "I am not quite sure you understand the way of the workplace. I don't spring appraisals on people at eight o'clock at night. What do you think happens? That I shin up a drainpipe and shout through their bedroom window?". Even now, I am giggling b/c I can totally picture Zeb saying that to Jesse and their whole rapport is just fantastic. I loved their story and the journey they took me on and I am very much looking forward to Max and Felix's story and Charlie and Misha's story. The author can write much better than this. I finished the book, but it is not a re-read, as many of her others are. But for light, pleasant reading it'll do. Ms. Morton is always better than turning to drugs as a mood enhancer...and just as addictive. Two days have passed and I have finished that series and am now on the second book of the Close Proximity series. I need an intervention. Beware of the mood enhancing power of these books. Funny, heartwarming, charming characters abound. I must go now to get a new fix before the weekend is over and I have to deal with much less adorable real people. And the side characters are equally as wonderful. I am glad that Charlie, Max, and Felix have their own stories because I definitely want more. Lily's books have just the perfect amount of snark and loads of love to make for some wonderful reading. I have got to get caught up in the rest of the set because I haven't read all of the Finding home series and haven't heard Eli and Gideon's story yet. Even if some of the English terms are unfamiliar to me, she makes you still feel the laughter and the tears, the joy and the anger. I like books with strong willed yet vunerable "twinks" who are not afraid to speak up for themselves, and this book definitely fit the bill. Well done on another one Lily. Her books are full of warmth and humour and feelings. Love is important. Family is important. Friends are important. There is a familiarity about her work that makes every book a comfort read, even if one has not read the book before. I always know that I am in for a lovely read when I open a new book by this author, and she has again delivered with Best Man. Bravo for another excellent read and I cannot wait for the next one.
